Object: Australian Centre for Design is currently looking for a Project Manager — Exhibitions & Programs. This new opportunity exists for a dynamic and experienced professional to work at Object, one of Australia’s most innovative arts organisations.
The purpose of the position is to: Coordinate and support the delivery and presentation of Object exhibitions in Sydney venues; manage and support the delivery and presentation of Object’s national touring program in venues across the country,and; manage and oversee the Object Gallery venue.

2011 — Object’s Digital Year

2011 was a big year for Object. In addition to continuing a strong exhibition and touring program (as I write this there are six Object exhibitions open around the country) and developing and piloting our landmark primary education program Design Emergency, we have had some terrific achievements in the digital realm.
The first, of course, was back in February with the launch of Object magazine issue 60. After an eighteen month hiatus, the magazine returned in a digital form, published as a free iPad app. We were delighted when it appeared as a Staff Pick in Apple’s App Store, and even more delighted as the numbers of downloads soared past the printed figures — this shift to digital has seen many more people able to easily engage with contemporary design from Australia and around the world. Exciting also was the realisation that it is not just people in Australia who are reading the magazine — people from every corner of the globe are finding it and enjoying it. Last count was 65 countries and climbing.
Position Vacant: Development Coordinator

Object: Australian Centre for Design is looking for a Development Coordinator to join our close-knit team. The primary responsibility of this position will involve traversing different relationships with individuals and organisations including government, corporate partners, private donors, media and other key stakeholders, in addition to our day-to-day audiences and visitors.

Graphic Design Internship

We’re on the lookout for creative folk interested in taking on a graphic design internship at Object in 2012. Roles range from 3-5 days a week and a 3 month min commitment, and are based in Surry Hills. It’s a great opportunity to get into the Sydney design scene, build your portfolio, work with seriously talented curators and on a range of creative projects. Oh and you get to see your work up in lights at the end of your stay – with a creative identity you develop for an exhibition at Object Gallery.
